Oakley Park. An oasis in the heart of Fleet and just a few minutes walk from the high street. A lovely park consisting of a large playing field, streams, a football pitch, children's play facilities and three acres of woodland nature reserve. The main park area boasts a grassed playing field with a network of pathways whilst the woodland is rich in native plants and wild life with a dipping pond home to dragonflies. The park is inhabited by foxes, squirrels, a range of birdlife and fish in its clear water streams. Bats are regular visitors more
The Friends of Oakley Park, is a not for profit community group established in 1989 by local residents concerned about the lack of investment into the park. We are a successful, independent organisation with a solid reputation for representing the "community voice" in matters relating to the park. Our continuing aim is to improve the parkland and enhance the facilities for the benefit and enjoyment of everyone. more
The Committee on behalf of the membership, liaise with the council and make application for grants, host fund raising events and run events for families. more
Our Membership frequently volunteer their time to undertake such tasks as painting, clearing the woodland of invasive species, installing bird and bat boxes and help run events for families and members of the local community. more
AffiliationsHart Voluntary Action. The Friends of Oakley Park have been members of the Hart Voluntary Action for a number of years. HVA is membership organisation which provides services and support such as information, liaison, representation, development work and training for voluntary and community groups in the Hart District and surrounding areas. more
